Ever since its announcement late last year, we’ve been intrigued to try the Black Desert Online spin-off Shadow Arena. The combination of fighting and battle royale tactics looked like a real treat, even to newcomers of either genre. And soon, you’ll have a chance to test it out for yourself.
Pearl Abyss officially announced today that a beta will take place for Shadow Arena. It’s set to kick off on Steam starting on February 27, and runs through March 8. During this time, players will be able to test out a bevy of modes coming to the game. These include Solo, Team Battle, Private Match and Practice Match.
What’s on offer for Shadow Arena?
Shadow Arena can support up to 40 players in PvP action, blended with MOBA elements. All characters are taken from the Black Desert universe. They’ll use fighting moves, weapons, and even spells as you attempt to fend them off and survive in the arena. But based on the competition, it’s not quite that easy. Not to mention that you’ll have the dark fog to worry about, as it slowly closes in on the remaining players.
The trailer announced the beta is below, and provides a hint of what kind of action players are in for. Experienced Black Desert Online players should already have a good idea. That said, there’s more than enough room for new players to join the party (just be ready for a fight, because, battle royale rules, you know).
Those interested in registering for the beta can visit the official Shadow Arena webpage for details. The Steam page is also open and has more information on what the game has in store. As for when the full Shadow War experience will be ready, Pearl Abyss hopes to launch the game in the first half of 2020.
