Salt and Sacrifice – The Undone Sacrifice final boss
Let’s talk about the things that you can do prior to fighting the final boss in Salt and Sacrifice, as well as the encounter itself.
Where to find the final boss in Salt and Sacrifice
The aptly named Undone Sacrifice is the final boss in Salt and Sacrifice. You’ll find him once you ascend to the top of the Imperfect Shrine in the Elder Copse zone.
There’s a particularly tricky section where you need to ride the wind currents going to the right. When you’re floating on the third wind current, you can close and reuse the parachute gadget (“LB” button) so you can gain maximum height.
There’s an Obelisk in the next section. To the left, you’ll find objects that you can gather for flask/ammo refills. To the right, there’s a doorway that takes you to the outer area with an NPC.
Keep heading upward and you’ll notice an armored knight that’s shackled to a tree. If you press the “B” button (i.e., interact key), you’ll pull him with your Grappling Hook and begin the fight.
Picking up the last tome and keeping a backup save before the point of no return
However, before you do that, I suggest doing a couple of things first:
- Walk to the left of the rooftop. When you reach the edge, pick up the Cerulean Tome of Fates. This unlocks the last set of Fated Hunts.
- Return to the previous section that has an Obelisk. Interact with it to trigger an autosave. This is important, as this is the game’s point of no return.
- If you want to keep a backup, go to: “C:\Users\<User Profile>\Documents\Salt and Sacrifice\savedata.”
- Copy all three files therein and save them in a backup folder. This will allow you to reload from this point onwards, though you’ll need to fight your foe once more.
Note: If you haven’t done it yet, you can find the rune combination for the Hallowed Hill secret area.
Beating The Undone Sacrifice
Once you’re ready to go toe to toe with this fella, go ahead and start the encounter. The Undone Sacrifice has the following abilities:
- Scythe Slash and Uppercut Slash – These are multi-hit attacks that you need to avoid, or block to mitigate damage ever so slightly. Your character will likely die if you’re caught since you can get juggled.
- Ground Pound – After dashing, the boss will stomp on your character twice before kicking you further away.
- Shard Storm – The boss will raise his arms in mid-air before sending out shards. You’ll need to roll behind him or multiple projectiles will hit you.
- Shard Eruption – After smashing the ground with his scythe, small explosions erupt. Keep moving away from your foe to avoid this attack.
Funnily enough, I found The Undone Sacrifice final boss in Salt and Sacrifice pretty easy to beat. However, I think that’s because my character followed the Sage build — with 40+ Arcana and the Stave of Scrolls weapon to boot.
The basic spell (“LT” + “X” buttons) shoots multiple shrapnel in a single direction. Due to the boss’ size, all or most of the projectiles would hit for immense damage. The spellcasting is also cheap at only 3 MP. This allowed me to expend most of my mana to drop the target’s HP significantly before I had to use a potion.
Anyway, the boss only drops a Beloved Idol accessory, which is a bummer. All right, let’s discuss the endings that you can obtain in the next part of our Salt and Sacrifice guide.
