The PC version of Saints Row 2 is being given away at GOG for the next two days. That freebie is in honour of a Deep Silver publisher sale they have on at the moment, which includes Saints Row IV and Gat Out of Hell on GOG for the first time.
Your last chance to get Saints Row 2 for no money at all will be 22 April at 10 AM UTC. This is also a bit of a pitch to get people using the GOG Connect system and receive DRM free copies of some of their Steam games: “Just go to connect.gog.com, link your Steam account and add any eligible Saints Row games to your GOG.com library,” they say.
Now the main downside to this otherwise generous offer (and this isn’t GOG’s fault) is that the PC port of Saints Row 2 is notoriously awful. There’s a chance GOG have addressed some of these problems, but their press release doesn’t mention any actual changes to the code. In order to straighten the game out a bit, therefore, you’ll probably want the Gentlemen of the Row mod.
Update: It’s raining Saints Row 2 today apparently. Steam has it for free for 24 hours as well. (Thanks VooDoolsRising.)
