Koch Media has announced S.T.A.L.K.E.R : Call of Pripyat will be on sale on 5 February in the UK, Nordic and Italian markets. The game is the sequel to the highly successful (and quite beautiful) S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Clear Sky, and will see you take on the role of a undercover agent posing as a S.T.A.L.K.E.R after the Chernobyl disaster of 1986. The game will see mutants, “lethal anomalies”, amongst other things which will constantly pose a threat to your character.S.T.A.L.K.E.R : Call of Pripyat, although a FPS, will work on RPG elements too, and the player will decide which tasks or quests to take on and which side to affiliate themselves with. Of course your character won’t be completely unarmed, as an agent you’ll have enough weapons and upgrades to keep you happy.Your job, as agent Alexander Degtyarev, is to find out where five military helicopters have gone.We loved the last S.T.A.L.K.E.R game, and were very impressed by the GSC engine and the atmosphere, according to our very own Tim McDonald, was “spot on, especially in the underground laboratories, but it was the translation that let the game down,” as Andy nods in agreement. We liked the X-Ray graphic engine too, developed by GSC. You can find out more then check out Andy’s thoughts here, and we’ll have a review for you as soon as we get the game in.
