Recently, MMORPG RuneScape suffered from the biggest server issue in its 20-year history. Many players found themselves locked out of their accounts for over a month as developer Jagex worked non-stop to fix things. Now that these accounts have been successfully restored, Jagex is running a new RuneScape event to celebrate, Awesome April.
Throughout the month of April, all RuneScape players will be able to take advantage of certain perks and bonuses. Each week will see a different aspect of RuneScape boosted. The first week that went live earlier today is the Week of Skilling. From April 12 to April 19, all gathering skills be award 50% more experience. This includes RuneScape‘s newest skill Archaeology, which was released just last year.
What’s to come
April is going to be a huge month for RuneScape players. The Week of Skilling is a great opportunity to level some of RuneScape‘s slowest skills. The likes of Woodcutting, Fishing, and Divination are all good choices for players looking to get the most out of the week.
Moving into next week, the second Awesome April event for RuneScape will be Combat Week. For many players, this will probably be the most exciting part of the event. During Combat Week, all players will receive double Reaper Points, Slayer points, and Combat XP. Furthermore, death costs will be reduced significantly. These perks will make Combat Week an excellent opportunity to learn a new boss.
The final week will be focused on Distractions and Diversions. This will include various bonuses for mini-games, dailies, reset tokens, VisWax, and Player-Owned Ports. The exact details on how each D&D will be affected are currently unknown.
Even after the special weeks come to a close, Awesome April will provide one last surprise for RuneScape players to enjoy. We don’t know much about what the finale will entail though. According to Jagex, each player will be “granted a special wish,” at the end of April. It’ll be interesting to see what that means, but for the time being, all we can do is speculate.
Jagex also has some fun new quests for Runescape out right now. If you’d like to take a go a rewriting history, check out this recent update.
