This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, then you should have already heard about Rocket League. This insanely popular indie game became a hit because of its zany concept; combining soccer with acrobatic, rocket-powered cars. The result is a frantic, engaging, addictive experience that has kept both players and viewers entertained since it launched in 2015. So, just how popular is Rocket League?

Psyonix, the game’s developers, have recently announced that the title has hit a new milestone with its player count. Rocket League has now gained an absolutely massive community of over 40 million players worldwide. This player base spans across four different platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The Switch version of the game just launched a few months ago, and has been doing very well sales-wise.

I’ve put a few dozen hours into the game on PC. I just picked up the Switch version about two weeks ago and have fallen in love with the experience all over again. It really is an amazing game! Well done, Psyonix!
