History-spanning real time strategy title Rise of Nations will be appearing on Steam in ‘Extended Edition’ form next month. Previously owned by 38 Studios, the “Rise of” IP was purchased by an unknown party during 38’s liquidation sale. Turns out Microsoft snapped it up and gave it Skybox Labs (the same people behind Age of Mythology: Extended Edition.)
Rise of Nations: Extended Edition will be arriving in June, priced at $20.00 USD. It’s a shame Tim’s in France right now, because I’m pretty sure this is the game that he references as being superior whenever I say “Tim, an ‘Age of’ game is coming back to Steam!” He’d probably be able to write about how wonderful it is.
What I do know is that the Extended Edition will combine the Rise of Nations base game and the ‘Thrones and Patriots’ expansion. Here’s a list of what’s going to be new in this version, too:
New in the Extended Edition:
- Improved Visuals
- Improved water
- Improved textures
- Full-screen anti-aliasing
- Full Steamworks Integration
- Multiplayer with ranked matches (ELO)
- Achievements
- Trading Cards
- Cloud saves
- Extended Features
- Twitch Integration
Plus some exciting screenshots.
