In just a little under three months, fans will dig back into the world of Resident Evil with a stunning remake of its third chapter. And it’s packing a devastating punch as far as the main villain goes. Whereas Resident Evil 2 re-introduced Mr. X, part three will bring in the heavily armed Nemesis. The latest trailer for Resident Evil 3, which debuted earlier today, takes a closer look at this foe — and, man, is he deadly.

What does the Nemesis want with Jill Valentine?

In the trailer, we get a good idea of what the Nemesis can do. He carries a powerful flamethrower, and he’s also packing a rocket launcher for good measure. But that’s not all — he’s got superior strength. Jill Valentine, the game’s main hero, comes at him with a car, and he gets back up without taking a scratch.

Fortunately, Jill has some help. The trailer also gives us a closer look at Carlos, the special agent who signs up as her partner. But that doesn’t mean things will get easier. In fact, Nemesis isn’t alone when it comes to pursuing their prey. The trailer also introduces us to the revamped version of the Hunter. While it doesn’t show too much of it in action, its appearance is definitely on the frightening side.

Along with cutscenes that move the story along, the Resident Evil 3 trailer also features some new gameplay. And it looks like it aligns nicely with last year’s Resident Evil 2 in terms of quality.

We’re likely to see more of Resident Evil 3 — and its accompanying Project Resistance multiplayer game — in the weeks leading up to its Apr. 3 release. The game is available for pre-purchase now on Steam. If you’re a fan of the series, you won’t want to miss it — even with the Nemesis breathing down your neck. “STARS.”
