Gunfire Games revealed Subject 2923, its next and final DLC for Remnant: From the Ashes, and it’s due out August 20. The cinematic trailer was revealed during the PC Gaming Show live stream, but Gunfire also debuted gameplay during the Future Games Show.Â
Subject 2923 will be the largest expansion for Remnant: From the Ashes and will deliver tons of new content. The focus of the expansion will be on the new campaign that concludes the events from the game’s core narrative.Â
The expansion takes place one year after the conclusion of the events in the main story and will task players with seeking out the remaining Root to save humanity once and for all. In the new story, players will discover the origins of the Dreamer Program and its connection to the Root.Â
Gunfire Games’ next subject of discussion
The new main antagonists are the humanoid rats featured in the trailers, but there were mysterious giants and beasts featured as well. Players should expect to encounter many new monsters and some unexpected allies in Subject 2923.Â
Gunfire also announced that the expansion will include new Earth zones, the icy world Reisum, Ward Prime, and more. Each new location will house new quests and bosses, plus the weapons and items to defeat them.Â
The new Survival and Adventure modes that were added in the Swamps of Corsus DLC will also benefit from the new content provided from Subject 2923. Unfortunately, the modes remain exclusive to Swamps of Corsus, but that DLC is not required to play Subject 2923.
This final expansion should give Remnant: From the Ashes the closure it deserves. Gunfire Games has stated that it will be done with the series after the expansion is released. It did not say if it would create future Remnant games.Â
The price of Subject 2923 has not been announced, but the previous Swamps of Corsus DLC cost $9.99. The final expansion shouldn’t be too expensive. The full game of Remnant: From the Ashes can be purchased on Steam for $39.99.
