Red Dead Redemption 2 PC launch trailer shows graphical upgrades and late game spoilers

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Red Dead Redemption 2 is without a doubt one of the best looking games released in recent memory. Maybe even of all time. How does one improve upon a great console game? Move it to PC and bump the resolution to 4k. We’ve gotten a taste of these upgraded visuals before, but this time it comes with a healthy dose of spoilers.

With the game launching in just five days, and pre-loading already live, you’re probably already decided on whether you’ll be picking up this amazing cowboy romp. If you are somehow on the fence, this launch trailer will showcase some of the breathtaking vistas the late game has to offer.

RDR2 spoilers in the open

While Red Dead Redemption 2 has been out for over a year at this point on console, this will be the first time the franchise has ever come to PC. For those PC purists who haven’t gotten the chance to roam the old west, you may want to skip this trailer. The Rockstar marketing team’s decision to show off very late game story beats in this trailer is, at best, confusing. While the story of RDR2 is by far the strongest feature, in my opinion, there are plenty off great story hooks that occur within the early game.

Showing off content from dozens of hours into the game seems unnecessary. Anyone who has beaten the game already is familiar with these scenes. I don’t see how this would sway them either way. It ruins what is an otherwise unexpected story beat for anyone who has yet to enjoy Rockstar’s magnum opus.

If you aren’t bothered by spoilers, though, the trailer does show off one of the most beautiful locations in the game.

Red Dead Redemption 2 finally comes to PC on November 5. Just make sure your computer is beefy enough to handle it.
