Gasp! EA have added two more games to their already rather generous Humble Origin Bundle, both of which can be acquired by paying more than the average ($4.84, right now).
The two games in question are Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 – Uprising, the expandalone to Red Alert 3 which added a load of extra units, mini-campaigns, and the like; and Populous, the 1989 god game that pretty much led to widespread knowledge of the genre.
“But Tim, I don’t want to give money to EA!” you cry. Well, EA don’t get any of the money; it goes to a mix of charities and to Humble Bundle Inc., and you can twiddle with sliders to micromanage exactly who gets what. Do you really like the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Human Rights Campaign, but hate the American Red Cross? Then you’re weird, but you can choose to give all of the money to one of the ones you like, if you fancy!
“But Tim, I don’t want to play a 1989 god game or a slightly weird expandalone that had lots of goofy FMV but felt like a grab-bag of half-formed ideas!” you cry. Well, there’s a tonne of other stuff in the bundle already – that $4.84 will also net you Dead Space, Dead Space 3, Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box, Mirror’s Edge, Medal of Honor, Crysis 2: Maximum Edition, Battlefield 3, and The Sims 3 + Starter Pack. And quite frankly, Battlefield 3 and The Sims 3 are easily worth more than that each.
You can also pay less than $4.84, in which case you don’t get Battlefield 3, The Sims 3, Populous, or Red Alert 3: Uprising.
All of the games activate on Origin, and most of them activate on Steam. You can check it all out (and purchase the bundle) for yourself here, if you haven’t already done so. Being that 1.74 million bundles have so far been sold, for a whopping total of $8.4 million USD, there’s a pretty good chance you have.
