According to remaining a staff at the studio which develops and operates Firefall, they have all been let go. Numerous tweets from staff, and ex-CEO Mark Kern, indicate that this could finally be the end. There has been no official announcement made by the studio or The9 as yet.

Red 5 were operating their futuristic MMO Firefall which has never really taken off thanks to a change in the direction in its development. The original vision for Firefall was a sandbox style MMO shooter, but on Kern’s departure, it became a more traditional MMO affair.

As far as we know, the Firefall servers are still online but what this now means for the future of the game remains to be seen.
