We could see more game modes coming from Realtime Worlds’ MMO shooter when it’s released later this year, such as in-game racing events.
Creative director, David Jones, has told IncGamers that he’d like to see racing game modes in the game because APB is “one of the first online games that has cars with physics and collisions for 100 players.”
Jones, talking about the studio’s commitment to the IP, said there were many ways to expand APB, keeping it current and offering new content all the time to ensure the game doesn’t get tired.
“We could build, for example, a great racing game. Is that what players want? Well, we’re going to ask them. We’ll ask them “Do you want just a district dedicated to racing, or would you rather have a district with 250 players but no vehicles?” Because we can then ramp down the physics, and ramp up the number of players.”
But Jones said it wasn’t just about what the team wanted to do with the world, noting the community will have a massive say in how the game progresses.
“We want this game to be built around the players,” he said. “If that’s the kind of thing that they want… So we can build a lot of things, but we need to experiment, build some things ourselves, see what we enjoy, and then find out if the players want that as well.”
We’ll have our full interview transcripts and video interviews later this week, so make sure you check back.
