Prepare to seal your own wounds with gunpowder from next year.
UK-based publisher Reef Entertainment have secured the rights to publish Rambo videogames from film company Studio Canal. The first game is due to arrive next year and, although nothing has been set in stone at this point, the deal with Studio Canal will allow Reef to create games based on all four movies.
That could mean Reef decide to do a single game that encompasses all of the movies, or single games for each one… or something else altogether.
“I am a big fan of Sylvester Stallone movies, and when we had the opportunity to secure the video game rights from StudioCanal for the Rambo franchise, we had to grab it with both hands,” said Reef Entertainment CEO Peter Rezon.
Reef’s recent titles include the Wii versions of Sniper Elite and Rogue Trooper as well as Utopia City and Liquidator on PC.
Craig Lewis, commercial director at Reef added: “We have big ambitions for Reef and the Rambo IP is the first step in establishing us as a worldwide player,” added Craig Lewis, Reef’s commerical director.
Rambo will be a “triple-A” title launching on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC that will “capture the gritty atmosphere and full-on action which made the Rambo movies so successful.”
As a Rambo fan I say that: if Reef don’t fly this thing right, I swear to god I’m going to kill them.
…you’ll have picked up on that reference if you’re more than a little obsessed with Rambo.
