Raccoon City dev: We did what Capcom wanted

This article is over 12 years old and may contain outdated information

As Resident Evil games go, Operation Raccoon City is an ugly mess of an experience. Played in single player it’s a right old tedious and frustrating journey, in co-op it’s somewhat more fun because you’ve got someone alongside you to laugh at its failings.
In reaction to the kind of criticism you can read in our review, developer Slant Six Games has released a statement in which it says they “accomplished” what publisher Capcom asked of them:
“We read every review and we try to pull out all the constructive feedback that we can so we can learn a little about what people liked and what they didn’t,” Slant Six Games’ Mike Kerr said.
“Then we look to what our internal goals were and what Capcom asked us to do and I think we accomplished what they wanted to do – we took the Resident Evil franchise in a different direction.”
No matter what Capcom may have wanted, in this instance the “different direction” became the wrong direction.
