It’s the first time in a while without a Monkey Island game getting offered through Prime Gaming. But that doesn’t mean Prime Gaming offerings for August 2022 are slouches. The impressive StarCraft: Remastered will be up for grabs this month, along with the popular ScourgeBringer and the Metroid-like, Recompile.
It’s not a bad lineup, especially if you enjoy indie games. Prime Gaming has been known to also offer up some PC classics, and August 2022 will be no different. Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders may not be a familiar name to many younger players. However, this retro adventure game came to us from the legendary LucasArts way back in 1988. It was the second game after Maniac Mansion to use the SCUMM engine, which also powered the (you guessed it) early Monkey Island games. I just couldn’t write about Prime Gaming offerings without mentioning that series, huh?
In total, Amazon has seven games on the slate for next month. Other than the aforementioned titles, you can grab both Family Mysteries: Poisonous Promises and Beasts of Maravilla Island. For the most part, it’s a solid list. ScourgeBringer was received well at launch. And then there’s StarCraft, which is, well, StarCraft. The good things that can be said about the legendary real-time strategy game from Blizzard can fill a library.
Carrier has arrived
Prime Gaming also has its usual gamut of in-game awards for August 2022. More content drops are on the way, ranging from the usual GTA Online cash delivery to skins for Battlefield 2042 and bundles for Destiny 2. It all starts off on August 1 when the above seven games go free. On August 2, The Elder Scrolls Online players can claim a Noweyr mount and pet, and Red Dead Online players can bag up 10 gold bars. Although, I’m not sure any amount of gold will save RDO fans from the hurt Rockstar has provided.
