The follow-up to the undisputed Game of the Year of 2008 (and, let’s face it, every year), Barkley, Shut Up & Jam: Gaiden – Chapter One of the Hoopz Barkley SaGa may soon be on the way. Tales of Game’s Studios (that’s their name, not my dodgy grammar) has announced that a Kickstarter to fund the sequel to the finest b-ball based RPG ever crafted by human fingers is on its way “later this month”.

So prepare yourself for The Magical Realms of Tír na nÓg: Escape from Necron 7 – Revenge of Cuchulainn: The Official Game of the Movie – Chapter 2 of the Hoopz Barkley SaGa, in which you may or may not take the role of “X114JAM9, an amnesiac baller with no recollection of his past and no concept of his incredible b-ball destiny”.

If that prospect doesn’t interest you, you obviously didn’t play the original. If you didn’t play the original, you must not have realised that it’s free. Go back up to that link up there and play it.

Don’t ask me how ToG is going to get away with using Charles Barkley’s name as part of a Kickstarter, because I don’t know. I’d imagine there won’t be so many sprites and graphics tile-sets ‘borrowed’ from other games this time around either.

Look, why are you still reading these words. Go and play the original Barkley. And if you’ve already done that, go and read the full ToG announcement.

See you in Neo New York for the cyber b-ball apocalypse … again.
