Kim Swift, the co-creator of Portal, has a new first-person puzzle title on the way.
That should pretty much be enough to get people interested, but presumably you’d also like more details. Good news! We have some.
Quantum Conundrum (for that is its name) casts you as a kid staying with his uncle, Professor Fitz Quadwrangle (for that, believe it or not, is his name). The Prof gets himself into a spot of inter-dimensional difficulty with an invention called “Inter-Dimensional Shift Device” and it’s up to you to get him back.
From that description, and the brief glimpse given by the trailer (below), the game is looking like a cross between Portal (well, obviously) and Day of the Tentacle. By using the Inter-Dimensional Shift Device, you can zip back and forth between dimensions, making use of things that are (or aren’t) there in any particular realm.
That’s an idea with a lot of puzzling potential, and we’ll find out just how much when the game comes to PC, Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network in early 2012.
