Valve’s Chet Faliszek has let it be known that user-created levels for Portal 2, though made only on the PC, will be playable on Xbox 360 and PS3 too.
Speaking to NowGamer, Faliszek said “The mod tools have to stay on the PC side just because there’s a bunch of dependencies that require the Windows platform … but the content that comes out is agnostic, and so we will be seeing that on all the platforms.”
Whether those extra levels will be free on every platform isn’t entirely clear, as Faliszek also stated “Depending on the platform you’re on I should say, will depend on how we’re delivering it.” No doubt Valve will try to keep it free, but it’s possible Microsoft may have other ideas.
In addition, Faliszek confirmed that the PS3 version of Portal 2 will be using that platform’s forthcoming Steamworks features.
Portal 2 is due for release on PC, Mac, Xbox 360 and PS3 on 21 April.
