Valve has finally announced the sequel to the highly popular Portal. There has been Portal news hints all week and this evening Valve finally broke silence and announced that the sequel, imaginatively titled Portal 2, will be released this holiday season on the PC and 360.Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Left 4 Dead, Counter-Strike and Half-Life) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced Portal 2 for shipment this coming holiday season. In June 2008 Valve had posted a job opening to voice the game’s main character Cave Johnson which hinted at the sequel and this week’s teasers have kept everyone on their toes. At least we now we know when we’ll be able to get our hands on the game. Also interesting to note (thanks Blues) that Gamestop went back and edited their Portal 2 page removing the mention of a two-player cooperative mode. We’ll have to wait and see if that materialises in the final release.Gaming mag Gameinformer are also running a special on Portal 2 with the April issue carrying a Portal 2 cover if that tickles your fancy.
