How old is Nemona in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?
The age of characters in Pokémon games has never been well defined. The one rule that is certain is that you can only begin your Pokémon journey at age 10. Although even that is inconsistent, given the presence of the Youngster trainers seen near the start of most games.
For protagonists and rivals, we usually have at least a rough idea of how old they are. At their youngest, Red and Ethan are thought to be around 11, while the other end of the spectrum sees Unova’s Hilda and Hilbert at around age 16. In most Pokémon games, your rival’s age matches your own. But that isn’t the case in Generation Nine.
In Generation Nine, the protagonist’s age is thought to be around 12 years old. In contrast, the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet rival Nemona is likely around 16 years old. This is never explicitly stated, but it sounds about right given her physical build and the fact that she’s a long-term champion.
Just before you battle Geeta, she says that nobody has passed the Champion test recently. From this, we can infer that Nemona was made a champion some time back. Even with her passion for battling, it’s unlikely that Nemona became a champion in Scarlet and Violet at the same age that she started her Pokémon journey.
Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet can be purchased on the Nintendo Store.
