PlayerUnknown Productions revealed a teaser trailer for its new game Prologue at The Game Awards 2019. Prologue is the name of the game, it’s not a prequel to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Or is it? There really isn’t much information about the game right now.
From the description on the game’s website, we know that it’s an exploration of new technologies and gameplay. It also says that PlayerUnknown Productions is aiming to give players unique and memorable experiences, each and every time they play. It is highly unlikely that it’s another battle royale, however. PlayerUnknown has moved on from that genre. Allegedly. Check out the Prologue teaser trailer below.
After PUBG, there comes Prologue
PlayerUnknown, or Brendan Greene as his parents named him, stepped down from his role as the lead developer of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds in March this year. But he didn’t leave PUBG Corporation entirely. Rather, he stepped into a role as the head of a new division, PUBG Special Projects. PlayerUnknown said the job of this new department is to focus on research and game development. Honestly, that’s probably something still needed in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds too. He went on to say that the division will explore, experiment, and create new technologies, tools, pipelines, and gameplay.
The PUBG Special Projects division looks like it has been renamed PlayerUnknown Productions (or maybe this is another new division within PUBG Corporation) and the first title coming out of it is Prologue. While the teaser trailer doesn’t give us any more information other than that there are rocks in a forest, with all the research and development of new technologies going on behind the scenes, it’s definitely something to keep an eye on.
That’s everything that’s out there about the game right now. On the Prologue website, there’s a box for you to leave your email address in with a button that reads ‘Notify me’. So, you can do that. Or, if you’d rather not do that, we’ll let you know when more information is revealed.
