It doesn’t look quite as nice as this yet, but it’s getting there.

As the Chaos Reborn Kickstarter campaign moves towards its final week, the preview build of the game can now be accessed by anyone. This is (roughly) the same version of Julian Gollop’s (X-COM, Laser Squad et al) new title that Tim and I played last week.

If you want to do a bit of multiplayer wizard battling, head over here and make sure you have Unity installed for your web browser. The final game will be in a stand-alone client, but this version is browser based. Pop in a name and password, then press create account to get started. From there, you can choose to look for two, three or four player free-for-all matches, and 2v2 games as well.

It’s easiest if you have somebody (or somebodies) you know you want to play against, because then you can just set up a private match with its own ID and password.

Be aware that this is not a finished game. It’s lacking some of the spells and missing things like creature animations, final sound effects and all that kind of thing. Chaos Reborn is intended to have a full single player mode as well, but this is just a playable look at the multiplayer portion.

The Kickstarter currently has around $135,000 USD out of the required $180,000 USD, so it’s going to be relatively tight if the project is going to succeed in the final eight days of fund-raising.

Again, if you want to give the game a try (preferably with a friend,) here’s the link to the early build. Spread it around, it’s now open to the public.
