Pillars of Eternity 2 to be published by Versus Evil

As they did with the first game, Obsidian have hooked up with a publishing partner for Pillars of Eternity 2. The identity of that partner has changed, however. Paradox were brought on to aid distribution of the original game, but this time it’s Versus Evil (publishers of The Banner Saga, among others).

In terms of what that means, Obsidian producer Katrina Garsten (via twitter) says: “Obsidian will still be managing [the crowdfunding campaign] physical rewards and making sure they look great, and Vs Evil will be helping with getting them to backers.” Beyond that, it sounds pretty ‘hands off’ as a partnership.

Feargus Urquhart adds “We know that Steve [Escalante] and his team will treat Deadfire right and help us make it the game that our incredible fans and generous backers expect and deserve.” Pillars of Eternity 2 is currently expected in early 2018.
