The Brazilian site Technoblog has revealed multiple photographs of what appear to be a new model for the PlayStation 3, along with a letter corroborating model numbers and hard-drive sizes. Sony filed documentation with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) earlier this month suggesting that an updated model “CECH-4000” was on the way.
If these pictures are to be believed (and they do appear fairly legitimate), then this is the CECH-4000. Three versions seem to be in the works; a 500GB system, 250 GB and one with a tiny 16GB hard drive. As Sony has recently acquired cloud-gaming company Gaikai, the 16GB version may be a budget release intended to simply stream games rather than store them.
