Phasmophobia update

Phasmophobia Cursed Possessions update gives you more control with new tools, plus a new ghost

Now it's too late to say goodbye.

Members of Kinetic Games have been teasing the next inevitable update for its spooky, ghost-hunting game. Following the new Trello changes, it was clear that the team was hinting to something big this week. Well, today, Phasmophobia got a new update called Cursed Possessions. It adds a Summoning Circle, a Voodoo Doll, a Haunted Mirror, and a new ghost. Oh, and you have to say “goodbye” to the updated Ouija Board… “or else.”

The Phasmophobia Cursed Possessions update gives you new tools to tackle your hunts. The Summoning Circle can be used to call forth and trap ghosts, but it only works for a short time. Tarot Cards are also included, coming in at a pack of 10. I don’t currently know what the cards do, as I haven’t played the update yet. But it sounds like they can change the game in a number of ways. There’s also a new Haunted Mirror, which is just a perfect addition to the horror game. According to the patch notes, it’s a “visible portal into the spectral realm” that gives you a peak at the ghost’s room. Finally, there’s a music box. Ghosts will sing along to the song.

The Ouija Board got some tweaks in the update. Now a ‘Cursed Possession,’ it got a visual overhaul and some changes. For one, it doesn’t always appear on Nightmare difficulty. Failed questions won’t happen anymore, and it will “no longer play an additional sound when spelling double letters.” The board’s spawn points have been reduced in some maps, including Prison, High School, and the Asylum. But once you use it, don’t just run off. Saying “goodbye” after finishing is needed, otherwise something bad happens.

Phasmophobia Cursed Possessions Tree

You’ll find Phasmophobia a bit jollier than usual.

I curse you, I curse you, I curse you. Goodbye!

There’s also the new ghost type, the Mimic. If you’re concerned that the spirit is as bad as it sounds, trust me. It is. The Mimic can “mirror traits” of other ghost types, possibly making it the toughest yet to hunt. Adding to its challenge is that the journal doesn’t specify its strengths. At all. However, it does hint that you can find it with ghost orbs. Evidence for the Mimic includes a spirit box, fingerprints, and freezing temperatures.

The Phasmophobia Cursed Possessions update doesn’t just bring new and exciting stuff — we also get some fixes and changes. Be sure to check out the full patch notes over at Steam.
