Persona 3 Reload: How to fuse Kohryu

Hidden dragon.

Once you’ve completed a certain Social Link, you’ll be able to fuse Kohryu in Persona 3 Reload. However, it’s not as simple as the game makes it out to be initially.

How to get Kohryu in Persona 3 Reload

Kohryu is your reward for completing the Hierophant Social Link in Persona 3 Reload. And like the completion of all Social Links, you’ll get a pop-up at the end saying you can now fuse a new Persona. But the game doesn’t tell you how to put these Personas together. Luckily, the answer is straightforward once you know what to do.

To fuse Kohryu in Persona 3 Reload, you need to wait for a few things to happen. First, you need to wait until 9/18 as on this date, Igor will unlock more Special Fusions for you to create. Then you need to be at least level 71 to fuse Kohryu and get it into your ranks. But since it’s a special fusion, you’ll also need four other Personas to fulfill the recipe. These four are Genbu, Seiryu, Suzaku, and Byakko. There are dozens of ways to make each fusion in Persona 3 Reload, so here’s a quick way to make the ones you need:

  • Orpheus + Naga Raja = Genbu
  • Legion + King Frost = Seiryu
  • Decarabia + King Frost = Suzaku
  • Naga Raja + Horus = Byakko

Kohryu’s strengths and weaknesses

Kohryu is mostly an unremarkable Persona with abilities you may already have in the game. It comes with Makougaon and Mediarahan, which are good spells to have, but again, you may already have them. But some of the cooler abilities it can learn are Makarakarn and Tetrakarn. These spells put up a magical or physical barrier respectively and are brilliant for protecting characters in dire moments.

In terms of defense, Kohryu is formidable. It repels Lightning attacks, nullifies Bless, and has no weakness to any element. So, if you’re bringing it to a fight, you shouldn’t have to worry about getting knocked down by any spells or attacks. All in all, Kohryu is nice to have in Persona 3 Reload for the later parts of the game if you’ve got the time to make it. While you’re at it, I’d also advise fusing Thanatos, who’s one of the best Personas in the game.
