PC games of 2013: The semi-definitive list, with release dates

This article is over 11 years old and may contain outdated information

The next six months will see a lot of PC games getting released. Seriously, a lot. I know this, because I’ve spent the last too many hours compiling them into the very list you see sprawled out before you. No matter what you care for in PC gaming, there’s something here for you to anticipate with loving eyes.

It’s presented in order of release date, occasionally based on my best guesses as to what those may be. Sometimes that date will be spot-on (tending towards US releases,) other times it’s going to be as vague as “2013.”

Even this gigantic list can’t hope to feature every single upcoming PC release. So if you notice that Kickstarted Indie Title 7: The Gimmicking is missing and think it should totally be in there, leave a comment to let other people know it exists.

Company of Heroes 2 - E3 2013 - 4

Company of Heroes 2 (Relic) – Release Date: 25 June
Fight to liberate the glorious Soviet motherland from those pesky Nazis in this follow-up to one of the best-loved PC real-time strategy games that didn’t have Starcraft in its name of all time. Then do it again, but in multiplayer (and maybe play as the Nazis for a change of authoritarian scenery.)

magic2014duelsoftheplaneswalkers (5)

Magic: The Gathering Duels of the Planeswalkers 2014 (Stainless) – Release Date: 26 June
Don’t live near a boardgames store or have any friends to indulge your Magic fancies? Then make do with this latest virtual approximation of the wallet-bothering card game.

Mortal Kombat logo

Mortal Kombat (NetherRealm / High Voltage) – Release Date: 3 July
Have they let you “be” Goro in this series yet? They probably have. NetherRealm’s 2011 re-punting of the Mortal Kombat name is finally coming to PC. Except it’s been ported by High Voltage, who made Kinect Star Wars. Hmm.

DARK

DARK (Realmforge) – Release Date: July
Geralt of Rivia (or his voice actor, at least) has been turned into a vampire and thrust into a third-person stealth-action game. From the folks who brought you Dungeons.

Second touchdown of the day is tickled lightly past the goalposts into the safezone.

Ashes Cricket 2013 (Trickster) – Release Date: July
An intriguing new game concept based around throwing red balls at men with bats. Your prize is a small urn filled with ash. Frankly, I don’t think it’ll ever catch on.

Walking Dead 400 Days - 5

The Walking Dead: 400 Days (Telltale) – Release Date: July
Not the start of a full Season Two; that’s still in development. Instead, this is a sizeable-sounding DLC release featuring five individual short stories. Each one is based around a truck stop during first 400 days (hey, that’s the name of the release!) of zombie infection.

Sir, You Are Being Hunted

Sir, You Are Being Hunted (BIG ROBOT) – Release Date: July
Aristocratic robots chase terrified humans around the English countryside. You are a terrified human. It is your job to stay alive long enough to laugh at all the silly village names.

Luftrausers

Luftrausers (Vlambeer) – Release Date: Summer
For this entry, I have a handy playable aide. Luftrausers is going to be a lot like this only bigger, and with more customisable stuff.

Rise of the Triad (3)

Rise of the Triad (Interceptor / Apogee) – Release Date: Summer
Cutting edge 3D graphics will push your Intel 386 chip to the limits in this exciting shareware shooter. Wait … sorry, that was the blurb from 1994. Experience a thrilling reboot of the game which made it cool to play as a dog before Call of Duty: Ghosts nabbed the idea.
