It's got more requirements than a job application.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Ascension secret ending guide – Threshold dialogue and conclusion

Recommended Videos

Let’s discuss the important dialogue options when talking to Areelu in Threshold to get the Ascension secret ending in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous.

Entering Threshold and Meeting Areelu

Threshold itself is a fairly straightforward dungeon. There are several battles against various demons, as well as a few traps, but you won’t encounter too many puzzles or issues. You’ll talk to Areelu a few times here. In the first couple of areas, try to exhaust the dialogue options without provoking her (i.e., avoid the “you will die” types of responses). At the very end, with the swirling vortex right in the middle of the chamber, you’ll confront Areelu.

  • For the first set of responses, make sure you exhaust all dialogue options, especially the Perception check and the one about being a failed experiment. You’ll then battle her.
  • After the fight, pass the Perception check so you can say: “I see you Suture!” Follow this up by talking about being a “failed experiment” once more.
  • Next: “I want to know. I want to follow the truth.” -> “I know you’re not as mad or as fixated…”

More Talking

This will open up more dialogue responses, all of which are dependent on your previous actions in the campaign. One set has seven options, and you need to succeed in at least five of these. Doing so nets you the “So Much of Me” achievement, causing Areelu to doubt and making her realize that she actually cares about the Commander:

  • “Remember when you sent the Suture…” – Picked up the Midnight Bolt in Kenabres’ Market Square (Act 1).
  • “You came to me disguised as Yaniel…” – Rescued Yaniel in Midnight Fane (Act 3).
  • “In Nocticula’s Palace, you offered me power…” – Exhausted dialogue options when talking to Areelu before accepting her power (Act 4).
  • “When we spoke together in the secret part of your laboratory…” – Completed the steps in the secret area of Areelu’s Lab.
  • “You showed me several items in your laboratory…” – Completed the steps in the secret area of Areelu’s Lab.
  • “I used the summoning circle…” – Completed the steps in the secret area of Areelu’s Lab.
  • “I’ve reached the heights of Mythic Power…” – Maxed out your Mythic Rank (does not apply to Legend or Swarm-That-Walks).

From there, tell Areelu: “I’m sure there’s another answer. Just hear me out…” This will present yet another set of replies, all of which are dependent on the crucial information that you’ve learned. All of these must be met or you’ll fail to convince her:

  • “I’ve deciphered your notes in the Lexicon of Paradox…” – Combined both pages of the Lexicon of Paradox.
  • “We received our Mythic power from Nahyndrian Crystals…” – Completed the Unusual Crystal research.
  • “I’ve studied the notes and papers that I found…” – Completed the Areelu’s Drafts research.
  • “The Sword of Valor changed when it came into contact…” – Completed the Sword of Valor research.

With the above information, you’ll come up with a plan to use the Nahyndrian Crystals. The conversation continues:

  • “I learned a secret from Hepzamirah…” – Spoke with the spirit of Hepzamirah in the Ineluctable Prison. You can tell Areelu that she’s now the Archpriestess of both Deskari and Baphomet.
  • “I’ve studied the records kept by the Stagazers of Pulura…” – Completed the Records of Pulura’s Stargazer’s research.
  • “Today is one such day…” – Entered Threshold in between the 16th and 21st day of Gozran.

Note: You’ll want to avoid saying that you’ve run out of arguments. As long as you’ve done all the aforementioned requirements, the necessary replies should pop up.

The Final Fight and Ending Slides

Assuming you have an extra Midnight Bolt or Nahyndrian Crystal (and you definitely should if you’ve been following all the steps), Areelu will summon both Baphomet and Deskari. You’ll now have to face both Demon Lords at the same time, although Areelu and Suture will help you out. As a reminder, you should still use your Midnight Bolts on both opponents to gain two additional Nahyndrian Crystals.

Once the two fiends have been defeated, you can choose who will ascend depending on how many Nahyndrian Crystals are in your inventory. Note that the ones gained from the Baphomet and Deskari just now will automatically be counted, too. Once you’ve made your choice, you’ll receive the Ascension secret ending in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous.

So, what’s different about the Ascension secret ending in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous? Well, for starters, your character is a demigod.

Likewise, if you have more crystals, all your companions have ascended as well. They’ll ascend even if they’re not in your active party, but you must have completed their companion quests. Otherwise, it will say that they rejected your proposal.

And, finally, Areelu will appear in front of the goddess, Pharasma, who admits that the sorceress’ power has grown. You may also decide to show up, whereupon the two of you will leave.
