Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Nameless Ruins Enigma puzzle guide – Final puzzle and boss fight
Let’s talk about the final puzzle and boss fight in the Enigma zone of the Nameless Ruins in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. Return to the gigantic circular puzzle in the middle of the dungeon. Again, make sure you’ve got seven Blue Binding Sources and four Green Binding Sources.
How to Solve the Last Puzzle
There are two ways to solve the last puzzle in the Enigma zone of the Nameless Ruins in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. The idea here is to place crystals of a specific type of color in the outer Magic Springs, and the rest in the remaining springs. You should then see that some lines are glowing and some aren’t. Take note of the lines without any energy (i.e., grey color), as well as the symbols next to them. You should control only one character, moving them around to step on certain symbols to match how the line is “depowered.”
Solution #1: Blue Out, Green In, Grey Right
The first method is by placing the blue crystals in the outer rim and the green ones close to the middle. There should be four lines without energy. Step on the symbols to the right of the lines (encircled in the image below). If you do it right, click on the middle device to open a portal. Inside the room, you’ll find the Goggles of Mind Control.
Solution #2: Green Out, Blue In, Grey Left
This one requires you to do the opposite: green crystals in the outer rim, blue crystals closer to the center, and grey/depowered symbols to the left of the lines. Be ready for a fight once you interact with the device. A hologram version of Areshkagal will show up, and you’ll need to battle it. Once it disappears, a portal will open that takes you to the top of the pyramid.
Areshkagal Boss Fight
Be prepared for this encounter, because Areshkagal is a multi-phase bout. At the start, you’ve got a choice on whether you’ll allow Areshkagal to possess you or not. If you decline the offer, you’ll have to fight. As such, you’ll want to pre-buff before the dialogue begins.
Here’s how the fight goes:
- Phase 1 – During the first phase, Areshkagal will teleport and spawn multiple shadows that will hit your teammates. Since he’s in corporeal form, you can hit him with a Midnight Bolt. This will net you a Nahyndrian Crystal, which drops on the ground after the battle. This is important if you want to obtain the Ascension ending due to the limited number of Nahyndrian Crystals. In fact, if you did not pick the Demon or Trickster path, and you don’t own the Treasure of the Midnight Isles DLC, the Areshkagal fight is one of the last few opportunities to get this key item before the finale. You can learn more in our Ascension secret ending guide.
- Phase 2 – Areshkagal will disappear. However, multiple enemies (i.e., Mariliths and Sphinxes) will spawn from the portals. AoE spells like Sirocco and Chain Lightning will be beneficial here. Ideally, you’ll want to stick to one corner to put up a tenacious defense, as opposed to being scattered all over the arena. Likewise, switching to turn-based might be helpful so you have full control over your characters. It can be problematic if party members keep running away due to aggroing targets.
- Phase 3 – To close out the fight, Areshkagal will create clones, and you’d have to battle four opponents at the same time. As far as I know, the burning one is the real version, though you still need to kill the others.
When you’re done, talk to Nenio. You can invite her back to your party, and pass Diplomacy and Arcana checks while you’re at it. This completes the More Than Nothing Nenio quest and the entirety of the Nameless Ruins Enigma dungeon puzzle in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous.
For your troubles, you should now be able to loot everything in the whole place without worrying about debuffs. Moreover, you’ll receive the Mask of Nothing from the boss. Don’t forget that there are more riddles that are related to this location in the Secrets of Creation: Heart of Mystery. In fact, there’s an encounter that lets you show the Mask of Nothing for another reward.
Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is available via Steam.
