The Ivory Sanctum is a major dungeon in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. The location will be made known to you once you’ve completed the main objective in Wintersun. When you make your way to this area, you’ll encounter a bunch of tricky brain teasers, too. Here’s our Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Ivory Sanctum puzzle guide to help you with loot rewards, including a Nameless Ruins Mask for Nenio’s quest.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous – Ivory Sanctum puzzle guide
The Ivory Sanctum is located further southwest of Drezen in The Grey Road region. Once you arrive, check the sealed cavern to see the entrance.
In any case, the Ivory Sanctum in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous does have a lot of puzzles and loot. However, we’ll focus primarily on those that provide rewards/aid in exploration when puzzles are solved, as well as a select few that are related to campaign secrets.
You can see these numbered in the map below:
1. Entrance
Control some of your characters individually so that there’s someone standing on the two plates in the room. This will unlock the door, whereupon you’ll meet Jerribeth, the same demon who tried to whisk away Marhevok, the baddie from the Wintersun quest.
2. Midnight Bolt
These unique items are required for the secret ending. They’re used to shoot Demon Lords, and beating them will reward you with the Fresh Nahyndrian Crystal.
3. Wall Puzzle (North)
Several Ivory Sanctum puzzles in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous depict symbols on the wall. These need to be pressed in the correct order. Throughout the dungeon, you’re given clues from various notes (seen in the image below), and you’ll have to decipher what they mean. Still, we’ve got the solutions for you, too.
This chamber has a wall puzzle with two solutions (seen in the images below), as well as a door that can’t be opened until you clear the dungeon:
- Reveal a secret chest: Diamond -> Triangle -> Circle -> Hexagon.
- Ring of Sacred Touch – Touch attacks deal an additional 1d6 holy damage; touch healing spells restore for an additional 1d6 points.
- Unlock Jerribeth’s Room: Triangle -> Pentagon -> Diamond -> Circle.
4. Jerribeth’s Room
This room has some interesting stuff:
- Balanced Defender – +3 bonus to attack rolls with this weapon if you have a shield equipped in your off-hand.
- There are a couple of hidden switches. Likewise, you can interact with the strange flower in the corner. Assuming you let Jerribeth take Marhevok in Wintersun, you’ll realize that he’s been transfigured into a plant. You have the option to put the creature out of its misery, but doing so will cause Jerribeth to attack you later.
- You’ll return to this room upon beating the dungeon’s boss (more on this in a while).
5. Central Chamber Puzzle
The large, circular chamber in the center of the dungeon has some hidden stuff, too. The wall puzzle’s solution can be seen in the image below. Note that the solution is: Triangle -> Hexagon -> Pentagon -> Diamond.
- Circle Mask – This is required if you want to access the Nameless Ruins for Nenio’s companion quest. You can learn more in our Nameless Ruins Masks guide and Enigma Puzzles guide.
- Cloak of Carnage – +5 bonus for Knowledge (Arcana) skill checks; +2 DC for all saving throws against Evocation spells that the wearer casts.
Likewise, a niche right next to the puzzle can be revealed via a Perception check:
- Quarterstaff of the War Mage – +3 quarterstaff; +2 DC for all saving throws against spells that the wielder casts; +4 bonus to caster level checks made to overcome spell resistance; +5 bonus for Use Magic Device skill checks.
6. Corridor with Experiment Subjects
Xanthir Vang, the dungeon’s boss, makes an appearance here. Locusts will swarm you, but you can choose to disperse the swarm or get through. Xanthir will leave and you’ll have to deal with several mobs, including those that he’s experimented on. When you’re done, it’s time to check for some interesting stuff:
- Loot Demon Blood, Bloodstained Coded Note (just a puzzle clue), and Chipped Key from Ivory Sanctum.
- Check the walls along the section where you entered from to spot three hidden switches. Press these to reveal a hidden room:
- Ravager of Dread (ring) – +4 morale bonus against confusion and fear effects; if you fail the saving throw and the effect ends, gain +2 bonus on saving throws and damage until the end of combat.
- Select teammates individually so that characters are standing on the two plates on opposite sides of the room. Then, press the lever near the door. This will open up the southern portion of the dungeon.
7. Golems and Dragon Eggs
While this isn’t actually a puzzle, it’s worth noting if you’re following the Azata Mythic Path. You’ll discover a clutch of dragon eggs here, and golems guarding them. You can choose to fight or check different options. But, if you examine the eggs, an Azata option should pop up. Do make a mental note of this room since there’s an exit that takes you to the outer area.
8. Mimic Room
This is technically the last Ivory Sanctum puzzle in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, and it’s all the way to the southwest. When you enter the chamber, a bunch of Mimics will attack. Take them out and look at the puzzle on the wall. Have two characters stand on the plates, and press the symbols based on the solution in the image below. Note that the solution is: Circle -> Pentagon -> Hexagon -> Triangle.
A secret room will be revealed. Make sure you reposition your party accordingly before looting the items since an Eternal Guardian will spawn. Back away slightly so that the enemy isn’t in an area where the trap is triggered, then take it out. You’ll then be able to loot the rest of the stuff:
- Demonic Resentment (helmet) – +1 bonus for melee attack rolls, melee damage rolls, thrown weapon damage rolls, and Will saving throws if under a Rage effect.
- Bracers of Breaching – When you do a critical hit, the target has to pass a Fortitude saving throw (DC 23) or be vulnerable to piercing damage for two rounds.
- White Wind’s Cloak – Can only be worn by non-evil aligned creatures; can cast Sacred Nimbus spell three times a day.
- If you don’t have a level in the Duelist class – Gain the Precise Strike ability.
- If you have a level in the Duelist class – +4 competence bonus to attack rolls while parrying; add 1.5 of the Duelist’s level as a damage roll bonus for Precise Strike.
9. Xanthir Vang and Jerribeth
Return to the Golem/Dragon Eggs room and take the exit to the outer area. After a short scene, you’ll be able to reach the other section of the interior. There, you’ll duke it out against Xanthir Vang, who’s surrounded by a lot of mobs and locust swarms. After beating him, there’s a short dialogue sequence. Killing him or telling him to leave will cause him to drop dead. But, if you say that Jerribeth has given you her mark and that she’ll control the swarm once he’s dead, Xanthir will attack you once more. Either way, make sure he’s gone for good.
You can grab the following:
- Looted from Xanthir Vang:
- Headband of Vast Intelligence +6
- Old Grimoire – +3 slots for level 1 spells, +2 slots for level 2 spells, and +1 slot for level 3 spells.
- Small Key – Unlocks the door in the chamber next to Jerribeth’s room, providing you another exit.
- Looted in the area:
- Touch of Mercy – +4 bleed falchion; instantly kill an enemy if its got less than 80 HP and it’s already bleeding.
When you’re done, interact with the switch in a corner of the chamber. This will reveal the steps that lead back to Jerribeth’s room. To complete the Ivory Sanctum quest in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, you’ll have to report your deeds to her:
- You can ask her about Zanedra’s Hideout and the use of the Nahyndrian Crystals.
- She’ll attack if you (a) refused to give her Marhevok in Wintersun, or (b) she took Marhevok but you killed the flower creature that he turned into.
- She drops the Extend Metamagic Rod – Make up to three spells (per day) extended as though using the Extend Spell feat (i.e., lengthen the spell’s duration).
Note: Clearing the Ivory Sanctum dungeon in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous completes the Know Thy Enemy main quest. It’s one of the requirements to reveal the location of the Midnight Fane. The dungeon is the point of no return in Act 3, where you may also battle the Playful Darkness optional boss.
Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is available via Steam.
