Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous – How to romance Arueshalae
Starting the Arueshalae romance
Arueshalae can be romanced by male and female characters. There are two ways to start the Arueshalae romance in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, depending on when you recruited her:
- Act 2: Drezen (Azata) – This requires you to unlock the Azata Mythic Path in Act 1. Then, during Act 2, you’ll have to find a couple of hidden items in the Lost Chapel’s Shrine of Desna. When you meet Arueshalae in Drezen Prison, you’ll have the Azata dialogue option. Follow this up with: “I see a spark of the light of Elysium in you. You are beautiful.”
- Act 3: Greengates (any) – Assuming you didn’t get her in Act 2, you’ll want to continue exploring in Act 3 until the Greengates location is discovered. You’ll encounter Arueshalae once more. Make sure one of your responses is: “And miss the chance to see your beauty…”
General Tips: Be Kind and Don’t be a Perv
Arueshalae’s flags are all contextual. Some are quite clear, while others will leave you guessing in case you messed up:
- Be kind and considerate – In most other interactions, you’ll want the kind and considerate responses when she’s around.
- Do her companion quests – Borrowed Dreams (Act 3), Arueshalae Imprisoned (Act 3), Dreams in Ruin (Act 4), Time to Think (Act 4), and What Do You Dream Of (Act 5) are tied to the romance.
- A bit of light flirting is okay – After recruiting her, she’ll chill out near Desna’s Shrine in Drezen. You can joke with her about getting a kiss and ask about how demons have sex, but that’s that. If you do exhaust most positive/inquisitive dialogue options, you’ll see two additional responses: “Love is a wonderful feeling” -> Gently touch Arueshalae’s fingers.
- But don’t be a horny perv – She’s a succubus who’s afraid that her lustful nature will cause her to kill again. Ergo, anything that keeps you nudging her to have intimate contact and get frisky will make her reject your advances, leading to failure.
- Keep her around – Naturally, you’ll want her in your party all throughout. Never tell her to leave, go out on her own, or stay alone for good.
Act 3 Flags: Areelu’s Lab and Wintersun
To ensure that the Arueshalae romance in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is on the right track, you’ll need to experience two events that occur in Act 3.
- Areelu’s Lab – Bring Arueshalae with you and clear the dungeon. Upon exiting the hut, rest at camp (in the exterior area and not the world map). This leads to a dream sequence.
- Wintersun – As usual, have Arueshalae in your party when you complete the main quest in the zone. Camp while in Wintersun and you’ll get a conversation.
- Choose the first three responses, then follow it up by touching her hand and saying: “I’m real, I swear it.”
- Don’t joke about going into your tent.
Act 3 Quest: Arueshalae Imprisoned
This is another crucial moment that occurs after the Borrowed Dreams companion quest. Arueshalae will lock herself up in Drezen’s Prison. There are some responses here that need to be picked, and those that have to be avoided:
- Avoid the last option where you’ll tell her to stay in her cell.
- Avoid the options where you tell her about satisfying desires.
- Later in the conversation, choose the second, third, and fourth responses. A fifth will appear: “There’s no use in trying to hide. I’ll be with you. I’ll help you.”
- If you do everything right, Arueshalae will be surprised since you’re not afraid of what she might do. This ends the branch without a prompt from your character (which means you succeeded).
Act 4 Flags: Lower City Beggar and Ten Thousand Delights
To continue the Arueshalae romance in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, you’ll have to get two special encounters in Act 4 in the demon city of Alushinyrra:
- Lower City – There’s a beggar in the front of the Rotten Guttery. Convince Arueshalae that giving alms is the right thing to do.
- Ten Thousand Delights – When you first approach the Ten Thousand Delights, Arueshalae will express her concern. Tell her it’s fine and enter the den. A fella will accost her, and you can tell him that she’s changed and has renounced evil.
Act 4 Quests: Dreams in Ruin and Time to Think
Eventually, you’ll receive the Dreams in Ruin companion quest. Go to the location and beat up the baddies. Just be sure that your responses are akin to the good/lawful types. After that, Arueshalae will have you enter her dream world once more. This time, you’ll have to burn the objects in the area, including the table as that’s the only way you’ll finish this part.
Note: Whatever the case may be, avoid the evil replies, as those will cause her to revert to her corrupted form and leave your party. Still, you can recruit Corrupted Arueshalae later in the game.
As for Time to Think, you should get it after Dreams in Ruin. You might need to wait/rest for a few days in the Nexus before it pops up (don’t finish Act 4 too soon). Once you get the quest, talk to Arueshalae. Say that she needs someone she can trust and that you’ll help. Inside the dream world:
- Do not kiss her. Instead, say that you’ll guard her as she sleeps.
- When the phantoms appear, say nothing and don’t yell at them.
- Next, say that she’ll make new memories.
- When the spirit of the priestess appears, you can exhaust all dialogue options, ending with: “How can I help her find redemption?”
- In the end, say: “I love her and I want to be with her.”
Act 5 Quest: What Do You Dream Of?
With all of the above done, simply clear Act 4 and roam around in Act 5 until Arueshalae asks to talk to you. Speak with Anevia, then head to Drezen’s tavern and meet up with Arueshalae. Enter her dream world and you’ll find the lone table there. If you did everything correctly for the Arueshalae romance in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, the figure that appears is your character, but your remaining party members won’t be there. It means that the two of you have fallen in love, whereas the other outcome implies that you got friendzoned.
Say that you’ll build a home and kiss her, all while battling the shadows. Back in the real world, accompany her to “somewhere no one will bother us.” You’ll end up in the commander’s room in the Citadel, with flowers blooming all around (assuming you went with the Azata Mythic Path).
