You can play Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous‘ Inevitable Excess DLC from start to finish without encountering the Inevitable Darkness. This particular foe, much like its counterpart from the Midnight Fane dungeon, is an optional encounter. However, you can get some nifty stuff if you manage to take it out. Here’s our Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous – Inevitable Excess guide to help you beat the Inevitable Darkness secret boss.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous – Inevitable Excess — How to beat the Inevitable Darkness secret boss
How to Reach and Fight Inevitable Darkness
First and foremost, if you want to beat Inevitable Darkness in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous – Inevitable Excess, you’ll need to do all the steps to unlock the Paradox secret ending. In doing so, you’ll cause Threshold to undergo two transformations, the second of which will be a combination of both Order and Chaos. Essentially, you’ll see a clockwork/mechanical environment, coupled with a lot of lightning strikes.
Due to the shenanigans, you’ll notice several floating platforms near the spot with the Other Side of Threshold portal (you might need to battle some Axiomites and Keketars). Use your Dimension Door power to traverse each ledge until you reach the end, a larger square platform where Sosiel, of all people, seems to be painting something.
Before you interact with this clone, buff with everything you got. You can also summon a bunch of allies and mobs, but beware of the cramped space, as you might not be able to click on the Sosiel fella.
Once you do, it’ll transform into the Inevitable Darkness. As usual, it’s got ridiculously high AC, though your buffs and debuffs at this stage of the game should be more than viable. Don’t forget to switch to turn-based combat as well so you can plan your actions more carefully.
After defeating your foe, you can loot several +7 to +9 flawless items. They won’t really make a huge difference considering that you’re almost done with the DLC. You’ll also get a Rusty Key so you can open the chest for a Golden Toad.
Inevitable Darkness Rewards in Other Areas
Beating Inevitable Darkness in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous – Inevitable Excess will confer additional rewards outside of this run. Basically, your selected difficulty the moment you take it out will determine how many rifts will appear in other locations (up to three if you beat it on Hard). From there, continue onward until you clear Valmallos Threshold. This will flag your game as having completed the DLC, with Inevitable Darkness eliminated, too.
Next, you can either start a new campaign or load an earlier save. When you visit the locations noted below, you’ll see rifts that you can interact with. These will spawn small pouches that have high-tier items (i.e., the stuff it dropped in the DLC):
Difficulty | Act/Location | Reward |
Daring | Act 2, 3, or 5 – Martyr Zacharius’ Cemetery (the location closest to Kenabres in the southern section of the world map) | Flawless Ring of Protection +7 |
Core | Act 3 – Midnight Fane (in Playful Darkness’ cave) | Belt of Physical Perfection +6 |
Hard | Act 4 – Colphyr Mines (in the small area where you fight the Scorcher of Souls) | Flawless Headband of Mental Perfection +8 |
Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is available via Steam.
