Time to relax and see what your companions do whenever they aren’t killing enemies in Pathfinder. Here is how to complete each of the companions’ personal events in Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous A Dance of Masks.
All companion events in Pathfinder WOTR A Dance of Masks
Once you arrive at Kenabres, the festival celebrating the Commander’s achievements will make you and your companions stop worrying about the chaotic events in the world and relax and enjoy the party.
Once you regain control of the Commander after visiting the otherworld arena, you will be able to interact with your companions and trigger some personal events that are funny, heartwarming, and a bit deceiving. If you don’t want to miss out on any of these by selecting the wrong dialogue choices, just be sure to take the companion’s side and indulge their requests whenever necessary.
Daeran festival event
Let’s start with Daeran who is hosting a Daeran imitation contest because of course he is. Talk to him and agree to become the judge and pick one of the finalists, because there were prior elimination rounds, apparently. You can just pick the winner now or decide to talk to each one of them so that they can make their case on why they are the best Daeran imitator.
The man on the right will make an extraordinary imitation of Daeran, even acting hostile and pedantic toward the other contestants with Daeran claiming he is the best out of the four. The woman will also make a great Daeran after having some coughing issues.
The orc is completely drunk and making a fool out of himself, and the child is, well, a child looking for an excuse to be mean to everyone else. Oh, and a cat is wandering around, which unfortunately cannot be the winner even if you pick it.
Once you make up your mind, choose the contestant that has convinced you the most. It does not matter really which one you choose since Daeran will just choose the woman so that he can privately reward her. He gets immediately shot down by the woman since she is married and while something of that sort would never stop someone like Daeran, he still declares her as the winner.
Arueshalae festival event
Time for Arueshalae, one of the fandom’s favorites. She will be amazed at how all the townsfolk are celebrating the Commander’s achievements and she wonders what it would be like to feel like one of them, blending in the crowd without receiving special treatment. Convince her to attempt to blend in and head to the town square and speak to the different groups in the area.
The very first group is a couple that is having a very bad day due to some costume malfunction and they will drag on about the poor quality of their disguises. Neither you nor Areushalae will be particularly interested in them blabbing about their minuscule and superficial troubles, so you can just leave them be.
Next, we have a group of Arueshalae fans that have gathered thanks to their love of the former demon. You can even make Arueshalae tell them she is the real deal and they will guard the secret after becoming overly excited. A much more wholesome encounter if I must say so myself. The order in which you interact with the groups is irrelevant, but after the second group interaction, a girl will be looking at Arueshalae at a distance.
Finally, we have a group of disguised townsfolk who, unfortunately, don’t have the means of purchasing costly materials for their disguises, let alone full-blown custom-made ones. Basically, they gathered whatever they had and attempted to craft disguises that looked at least decent. For Arueshalae, these are her favorite ones, so she encourages and congratulates them for their humble effort and dedication.
Once you complete the conversation with the third group, the girl we saw looking at Arueshalae will appear and approach her. Her name is Valisa and it turns out that she has major respect and admiration for Arueshalae but, just like her, she doesn’t know how to approach others due to her being afraid.
She decided, though, to do so because the ones that live by their fears do not make friends. That makes her connect with Arueshalae who now recognizes her as a mortal and part of them and goes on a walk with Valisa.
Woljif festival event
Time to visit the good old, well-intentioned, and definitely not a thief or trickster, Woljif. He has set up a shop of valuable items and antiquities which are, of course, made up of cheap magic that has absolutely no value whatsoever. While you can shut down his shop by instructing him to stop scamming people, let’s not let our morals stop us and humor him. He will ask you to convince guards to visit his shop.
There are four different guards you have to talk to and convince to visit Woljif. The very first two are a group of old guards who are unfortunately suffering from their old age thanks to their pain. They have a history with Woljif, making them a bit skeptical about him. So, convince them that Woljif has everything they need to cure themselves and they will agree to visit them and stand in line.
There is another guard just next to the two we have just interacted with. She has also some history with Woljif but will be more reserved and will not be convinced easily to get even near Woljif. Use your abilities like Diplomacy or Intimidation to force her to get to his stand.
The last guard is at the festival square, and while this guard has more history with Woljik. Only suggest to her the idea of visiting Woljik on his stand and she will immediately go there, no questions asked. Man, Woljik has a lot of history with every authority in Golarion.
Anyway, go back to Woljik after convincing every single guard and he will reveal that the four of them share something in common: they tried to capture Woljik and failed. Just before things turn ugly, he will present an old chain link that he claims was bounding Baphomet himself in his labyrinth. That it’s a whole load of bologna, but the four guards will just become so enticed by said fake object that they will never speak again, or for the duration of the DLC, it could be either!
Regill festival event
You will find Regill interrogating the Eagle Watch to see how the Kenabres’ security is being handled and if everything is secure for the townsfolk around. Join Regill’s skepticism and support his limitless pessimism and desire to micromanage and you will begin visiting different stops to help identify any security imprefections.
The three different spots you visit are a long wooden structure protecting a hole in the ground, a funny-looking door that was definitely replaced after the latest attack on the city, and an Eagle Watch guard standing on top of a box and a plank. Let Regill ask his questions and even get some insight by using your Perception check on each interaction and the quest will be over.
Sosiel festival event
You will find Sosiel stationed at a wine maker’s shop and will be baffled by the unconventional methods he decides to use to make his wine. You see, his different types of wines are made using various types of magic, and, after hearing them discuss the sanctity of wine-making, the winemaker named Yumilian Nikdel-Trazze – a name I will not write again because come on – will convince you to try its different varieties.
While you are not a connoisseur, agree to his request and prepare yourself for some trippiness. You will see triple, float in the air, become a golden frog, and even see some rainbows appearing right in front of your eyes. Magic? Yumilian has been jamming to some hippie Beatles tunes while making these!
After you have tried every single one of these wines, Yumilian will ask you to answer some survey questions he has for you. Answer each of them with your sincere impressions: you either loved them and want to upgrade the triple vision into the octuple vision, or agree with Sosiel and call this the worst travesty you have ever witnessed and tasted. Once you answer the survey, Yumilian will disappear and you will be left with Sosiel who is convinced this was the worst wine ever. And he is not wrong.
Ember festival event
Ember is not at his location marked on the map, but her innocence just caused some trouble. He invited the nobles who took her in and raised her and some of the homeless children she knew. The noblewoman will make a scene and act completely disgusted by the presence of the kids, and while you can decide to take part and favor either side of the discussion, you are better off looking for Ember so that she can solve this mess.
Travel to the temple of Desna where you will find a Grateful Citizen who has received some help from Ember. She is nowhere to be found, so you will need to follow the lead this citizen gives you and go to the chapel. You will find another Grateful citizen who was saved by Ember after falling from the chapel’s belfry. He will tell you to get back to the table’s location where the nobles and the children are arguing.
Get there and Ember will arrive. Through her pure heart, she will convince the noblewoman and his husband — but mostly the noblewoman — that there is no need to be so rude to the ones that have less than them, and the noblewoman becomes mortified by her actions and is redeemed by asking forgiveness from the kids. Talk about a character arc, huh?
Anyway, that is it for the personal events in the A Dance of Masks festival! Note that the available questions will vary depending on the companions you have recruited, so just remember to follow the rule of not antagonizing them and you will be able to complete each of their events in the best way possible. Hope you get to the bottom of the strange occurrences in Kenabres!
