Anyone who’s followed Blizzard and ArenaNet over the past fifteen years will know the name Patrick Wyatt. He’s worked on WarCraft, WarCraft II, StarCraft, Diablo, Â and Battle Net. That was a long time ago now and he’s probably better known as one of the founders of ArenaNet.
The good news for Undead Labs is that Jeff Strain is reuniting with Pat after many years. Having both founded ArenaNet years ago prior to NCSoft taking over, Pat moved on to co-found En Masse Entertainment and launch TERA which must have been frustrating as it wasn’t a great success.
What exactly Pat is up to at Undead Labs is not known but from his concluding paragraph it sounds like a new MMO could be in the works, possibly focused around the Undead.
So as per my instructions to introduce myself and provide some background, what else can I say? I can’t talk anything about what I’m working on here at Undead Labs … yet. … But … I specialize in developing really big multiplayer games. So I guess maybe I’ll be working on something like that, at least as soon as I get one of the cool lab coats everyone around here has.
With any luck we’ll hear more about their plans in the months ahead, and now that Undead is well established with State of Decay, there could be some exciting times ahead.
You can read both Jeff and Pat’s blog announcements on the Undead Labs site
