Do you find yourself pining for more games that are rather like previous games but with a “2” on the end? Then this Paradox E3 line-up is for you.
The publisher is planning to not one, not two, but three sequels (plus a couple of other games) at this years E3. First up, it’s King Arthur II – another entry in NeoCore’s personal “role-playing wargame” genre. I was quite a fan of the original, and the promise of bigger battles and more RPG stuff sounds decent to me.
If that doesn’t pull the sword from your stone, how about a different type of sword entirely? Sword of the Stars II is one of those “4x” space strategy titles and, having not played the first one at all, is something of a mystery to me. Here’s a lengthy video of a man talking about many, many features of the game though. That should help.
Crusader Kings II is the other sequel that’ll be shown. Again, I haven’t played the first one, but I have read many a tale of its deep intrigue and the frustrations of trying to uphold a medieval family dynasty when you keep having clueless heirs. It looks and sounds pretty fascinating.
The Magicka team will also be appearing as part of the line-up. There’s no clear indication that this will be another case for the sequel files, although it is noted that they’ll talk about an upcoming PvP feature and “discuss future plans for the franchise.” More silly stuff like the Vietnam DLC for Tim and I to be bad at, please.
Finally, the tower defence spin-off from Paradox’s Majesty series, Defenders of Ardania will also be appearing.
