Overwatch Gets Updated With “weekly Brawls”

Overwatch Gets Updated With “Weekly Brawls”

This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

The new update for Overwatch added a lot of new things during the game’s closed beta this week. Blizzard introduced new skins for the characters, new achievements and most importantly, the brand new Weekly Brawls, which were obviously inspired by Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft.

Hearthstone has a gameplay option called “Tavern Brawls” and Weekly Brawls follows the same “randomness” with rotation game types that are based on a “set of unique (and sometimes crazy) rules” from Overwatch’s Custom Game system.

In one Weekly Brawl, you’ll only be able to play Soldier: 76, while in another Weekly Brawl, a random hero will be selected for you each time you respawn. Other Weekly Brawls will restrict you to Support heroes only, or Tank heroes only, or Defense heroes only…

This new option is still in development, since Blizzard plans to experiment on its mechanics a lot. We’re still experiencing the closed beta of the game, so this should not surprise anyone who plays currently the game.

Take your time and have a look at the video below, in order to get an even better picture of the newly added legendary skins from the last update. For a full list of changes and additions to Overwatch, you can read Blizzard’s beta patch notes here.

Blizzard’s much anticipated title will come to Windows PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One May 24 and the open beta will start on May 3.
