The next large update for Overwatch will be the Competitive Play mode and patch details have been revealed via the Korean PTR.
Translations from the notes reveal the following. The first box in the image below shows the Competitive Play information where ten games need to be played to get a placement. The rank is from 1-100 and will increase and decrease based on the wins and losses. Competitive play will also include multiple rounds for each game type which was also mentioned in Kaplan’s recent update.
Competitive play will also include multiple rounds for each game type which was also mentioned in Kaplan’s recent update but there was no mention of “points” which appear to be new. Points are allocated based on achieving objectives and the team with the most “points” is deemed the winner.
Jeff Kaplan mentioned in his last update that there would be Golden Weapon rewards which are being dished out to the top players. A gallery of these has popped up on Inven and the image below shows how they will look on D.Va
The Overwatch Competitive Play mode is expected to hit by the end of this month.
