Square Enix and People Can Fly have finally resolved that pesky Outriders inventory wipe glitch. Sort of. Square Enix announced today that a patch to prevent the glitch is now available. However, the team is still working on restoring inventories for those who were affected by the problem. In any case, after more than a week of inventory wipes, we’re just glad to know it won’t happen anymore.
Square Enix revealed that a new patch on Steam, Epic, PlayStation, and Xbox will ensure that no more inventories are lost. “While we are confident that the patch will prevent inventory wipes in future, we do want to use the weekend to continue monitoring the situation and ensure that no more players are encountering any related issues before we move onto the restoration process,” the Reddit post read.
Players should note that the Outriders inventory patch may cause some “multiplayer connectivity issues.” According to the announcement, inventories may temporarily appear “invisible.” However, the items will return to normal after players restart the game.
Unfortunately, anyone who has already lost their inventory may still be out of luck — at least for now. Square Enix considers item restoration a “separate process.” The publisher explained that item restoration will take place “via our server database,” so there’s no need for another patch. Once the studio can focus fully on item recovery, it should hopefully be taken care of quickly. Sit tight, Outriders fans.
Making a breakthrough
The developers are one step closer to closing this case for good. As Outriders players know, there have already been a few attempts to patch the inventory glitch. Square Enix’s first patch ended up causing more inventory wipes. The second reduced the glitch, though players still reported inventory losses. The third time must really be the charm. At this rate, we will hopefully see recovered inventories by next week. It’s clear that Square Enix and People Can Fly have worked diligently to take care of this glitch. That’s something the Outriders community can be thankful for.
