Konami has announced a brand new Metal Gear Solid.
Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is an open-world game that uses Hideo Kojima’s Fox Engine, it was confirmed during a Tokyo showcase in honour of the franchise’s 25th anniversary.
A gameplay demo showed Snake avoiding spotlights and stealthily taking down guards as he made his way to a small 4×4, from which he called a chopper evac from the area. Kojima told the crowd that Ground Zeroes is “a challenge from Kojima Production to the world.”
Part of the promotion for the game includes the line “a game without game over,” the idea being that when you’re spotted the focus of gameplay switches from stealth to escape… doesn’t really explain much, to be honest.
No release date or platforms have been confirmed, but we do know that the game was running on a PC and has, supposedly, been developed with the idea of releasing on PS3 and 360.
It’s rare that a new game announcement takes you by surprise, but this one genuinely has.
The images above and below are the only official pieces of artwork for Ground Zeroes to be released.
