After saving the Mudokons in The Funicular, Abe will be in Sorrow Valley. There are many dangers here, including Slig snipers and flying variants that fire rockets. Still, you should be able to deftly manage. Here’s our guide to help you rescue all the Mudokons in Sorrow Valley, the fifth level in Oddworld: Soulstorm.

Oddworld: Soulstorm Mudokon locations guide – Sorrow Valley (level 5)
- Mudokons: 31
- Required for 80%: 25
Mudokon #1 to 4
They’re in the first cave that you come across. There are some mutant dogs here so make sure you’re sneaking around.
Two are at a higher section of this area. Make them follow you and have them wait while they’re standing on the plates. This will open the room where the remaining two Mudokons are.
Walk gingerly until you’re close to the Bird Portal and tell your followers to wait. Go further away and activate Abe’s chant (so the dogs don’t wake up), and use it to open the Bird Portal.
Mudokon #5 to 8
You’ll eventually reach a part where you need to use a cable car while Flying Sligs are shooting at you. Use Abe’s chant to possess one that uses a rocket launcher to take out your foes.
Control that same mob and go further to the right. Shoot the wooden wall with a rocket launcher to open a path to a doorway.
This doorway leads to a secret area. You can possess the Sligs here or find other means to eliminate them.
At the back of this area, you’ll find more Mudokons. Guide them to the Bird Portal near where you entered this section.
Mudokon #9 to 11
You’ll reach the first giant ladder in Oddworld: Soulstorm‘s Sorrow Valley level. Climb it and swing using the monkey bars to reach a secret area that’s right above you.
There are three Mudokons here (two at the left are easily seen, and one’s a bit hidden above the boxes).
Mudokon #12 to 14
Go back down to the normal path to reach a checkpoint. There’s a ledge to the right that has a few Mudokons.
To the left, you’ll need to sneak past the Sligs while defusing the slap mines. Once you reach the end, you’ll want to toss a brew and a flare on the sleeping Slig to burn it alive. Open the Bird Portal once it’s dead.
Mudokon #15 to 19
Past the bridge with the sleeping Sligs and slap mines, you’ll discover a mine. In the first section, you’ll find three Mudokons. The other two are in the next section on a higher ledge.
Sneak around to avoid waking up the beasts. Make sure you use the switches to close the metal gates so you can use your chant on the portal without waking up the mobs.
Mudokon #20 to 21
Exit the mine and look for a way down to your right. There’s a secret area here with two Mudokons and a portal.
Oh, and for the next section (with the cable car and Flying Sligs), try to possess a mob that’s got a rocket launcher. You should be able to eliminate the remaining hostiles a lot faster. Plus, you can use their firearms to destroy a conduit to disable the electrical field (there’s a Royal Jelly that you can pick up).
After crossing that gap, the blimp will bombard you. Keep rolling around to avoid taking hits, though the explosive rounds can also hit the wooden wall that hides a Royal Jelly.
Mudokon #22 to 25
Progress normally until you reach the section with the electrified fence and trapped Mudokons. You’ll need to go left then up to reach a sensor. This will spawn a Flying Slig that you can possess. Guide it through this maze-like area with lots of rolling spike traps and explosives. Then, once you reach the end, destroy the wooden boxes and take out the guard.
Note: If the Flying Slig has a weak weapon, it might not be able to destroy the boxes, so try to find one that’s using a flamethrower. You can let the mob get killed so the contraption near the sensor spawns a new variant.
Anyway, you can continue controlling the Flying Slig past this point. Go ahead and activate the levers and kill the snipers.
Once you’ve completed the objectives, make the mob blow up and retain control of Abe once more. Talk to the four Mudokons and get them through to safety via the nearby Bird Portal.
Note: To clarify, I reached the end of Oddworld: Soulstorm‘s Sorrow Valley level here, and I missed out on six Mudokons. I guess that’s fine for now since I was still able to reach the 80% requirement. I’ll update this guide in the future once I’ve discovered the ones that I didn’t encounter during my original run, so don’t worry.
In any case, let’s talk about the next few levels in Oddworld: Soulstorm. We’ve got Phat Station, The Hijack, and Old Trellis.
Oddworld: Soulstorm is available via the Epic Games Store. For more information, check out our guides and features hub.
