Oculus have announced that people will be able to order themselves a Rift headset from 6 January. In what is almost certainly not a coincidence, that’s the same day the Consumer Electronics Show kicks off in Las Vegas.
The actual release date of the device is still a bit nebulous (and we know that the touch controllers have already been delayed), but it’s likely to be in the first few months of 2016. A more concrete release date is also one of the more probable announcements Oculus could have lined up for CES.
There’s no price tag yet either, so that’ll be an interesting reveal on Wednesday.
Oculus boss fellow Palmer Luckey will be showing up for an ‘AMA’ session on Reddit on 6 January (at 6pm Pacific Time), so no doubt he’ll be answering more questions during that period.
The blog post announcing the upcoming orders (I know, I know, announcements-of-a-coming-announcements are a bit shit), reminds people that the Oculus Rift pre-order will be bundled with a pair of games: EVE: Valkyrie and Lucky’s Tale.
