Funding continues on Cyan’s new adventure Obduction with $648,493 of the $1.1m they are looking for secured so far with 18 days to go. Today they revealed the first stretch goal for the game, and should it reach it’s funding target, Oculus Rift support will be added. The update on Kickstarter states:

“We believe that playing Obduction through the lenses of an Oculus Rift will be a rich, immersive experience for those players fortunate enough to have the equipment to support it. However, adding support for the Oculus Rift will in no way affect or diminish the experience for “traditional” gamers. The game will be immersive regardless of your view. Oculus Rift use will be entirely optional. (Note: At our discretion additional VR devices may also be supported.)”

The 1.3m stretch goal will also bring additional localisation and the game could potentially be localised into any language by dropping in a localisation file created by fans.

Oculus Rift support would be a very tasty addition to Obduction as the adventure genre is one area where VR could work incredibly well. If the game is as visually stunning as it potentially could be based on what we know of Cyan’s previous titles, it could be rather special.

You can find out more about Obduction on the Kickstarter page and back it if you like what you see.
