Oculus Quest 2 juddering fix

The Oculus Quest 2 juddering issue has been fixed on Windows 11

It took a while, but a fix is here.

A fix has been released for the Oculus Quest 2 addressing Air Link juddering on Windows 11. This was first reported by UploadVR, which spotted that a fix for the issue is available on the Oculus Public Test Channel. It hasn’t rolled out as part of a regular update just yet, but that’s only a matter of time.

There are plenty of users refraining from moving on to Windows 11. While Windows 10 often has its own shortcomings, most applications work without issue. The majority of the problems you can encounter on Windows 10 also have a known solution. Windows 11, on the other hand, still presents quite a few problems with some software — the VR juddering issue being a perfect example.

Still, Windows 11 users should still have an experience that’s as stress-free as possible. And it looks like Oculus Quest 2 owners should have a much more enjoyable experience now.

The Oculus Quest 2 is judder-free on Windows 11

The juddering issue for the Oculus Quest 2 on Windows 11 has existed in some form since the release of the OS. This means users have been unable to have the intended VR experience for around seven months. That’s a long time and certainly annoying for Quest 2 users. Luckily, the recent fix that addresses the juddering seems to work on the Oculus Quest 2, and it isn’t difficult to install.

To install the update, users simply need to head to Settings in the Oculus app, click on Beta, and then opt-in to the Public Test Channel. By doing this, you’ll receive experimental updates before they go live normally. Be sure to test this out as soon as you can to see if the juddering has been fixed on your Oculus Quest 2. Since the update is part of the Public Test Channel, it may not solve the issue fully on some PCs.

Meta’s Oculus Quest 2 is a solid VR headset, especially for those who don’t want to deal with cables and want to save some money. It’s good to see the juddering issue resolved, since it should make the move to Windows 11 much easier for some. There are some cool titles to look out for this year too, like The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution.
