We were wondering what Obsidian would reveal at GDC and now we know, it’s a free to play new military themed MMO called Armored Warfare. The description reads:

Take command of your own Private Military Corporation. Plan the development of your base. Collect, upgrade, and drive powerful modern military vehicles. Compete in competitive PVP battles or team up with friends to take on challenging missions.

This is obviously a game targeted squarely at the World of Tanks and War Thunder audience which is not surprising considering it’s being backed by Mail.RU. Russians love their tanks.

The game does look rather nice thanks to the CryEngine but whether it actually brings anything new and exciting to the tank and battlefield table remains to be seen.

Here’s the announcement trailer which unsurprisingly features tanks and stuff rumbling around.

There’s little else to say about the game at the moment but you can keep an eye on it over on Mail.RU’s My.com page if you want another one of these games. Anyone waiting for some big game reveal from Obsidian will be disappointed and probably stopped reading when they saw “free to play” and “tanks”.
