Nvidia reportedly set to release the GTX 1630, a new entry-level graphics card

Nvidia sets it sights on affordability.

It sounds like Nvidia is about to release a new entry-level graphics card. This was first reported by Videocardz, stating the new card will be called the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1630. As indicated by the name, this card will act as a new entry-level option for consumers who want to save some money.

It’s been quite some time since Nvidia released a GTX graphics card. The last launch was the GTX 1650 Super back in November 2019. The RTX 20 and 30 Series cards have long outshined Nvidia’s previous generation in performance and features. However, 10 Series cards aren’t obsolete just yet. In fact, the GTX 1050 Ti is still a solid option for gamers on a budget. But, if Nvidia really is planning on releasing a new budget card, it may be an even better value proposition.

Nvidia’s GTX 1630 is a potential win for budget builds

Graphics cards are still very expensive, though you can still find a few good deals out there if you use our buying guide. Still, if more entry-level options enter the market, shopping for a cheap graphics card could become a much easier affair with more options and competitive pricing.

Nvidia has neglected the low-end market for some time now, too. If Nvidia’s GTX 1630 comes into existence, it could be exactly what budget PC gamers need.

We still don’t know too much about Nvidia’s GTX 1630 at the moment. Most of what we can glean is purely speculative and based on assumptions. According to the report, we should expect something with a 75W power requirement and GDDR6 memory. It’ll also likely feature a Turing generation TSMC 12nm GPU. When it comes to MSRP and the exact specifications, we’ll need to wait for word from Nvidia.

It’s shaping up to be a busy year for both Nvidia and AMD. Both companies are setting up to announce next-generation graphics cards. Nvidia also has some presentations lined up for next week. It’s certainly possible Nvidia could announce the GTX 1630 then.

Another report also claims Nvidia could release its 4000 Series graphics cards later in July. It would be nice if Nvidia released these new powerful (and likely expensive) graphics cards alongside a new budget option. Hopefully Nvidia can officially confirm the GTX 1630’s existence soon. But, as always with unconfirmed news and rumors, don’t take it as fact quite yet.
