Nvidia has finally unveiled its much-anticipated RTX 40 Series line of graphics cards. Along with the lineup, the company also revealed the next evolution of performance-boosting tech: DLSS 3.0. The company is promising some big, beefy gains with the new DLSS, saying it can improve performance up to four times. As impressive as it sounds, it does leave us wondering what games will get the treatment. Well, let us wonder no more. Nvidia’s DLSS 3.0 will support 35 games and apps, such as Cyberpunk 2077 and the upcoming Portal RTX.
Don’t worry, though, the majority of the list is comprised of games. PC owners should find relief that a good handful of games on the list are the ones in dire need of performance boosts. DLSS 3 is coming to games like CDPR’s aforementioned resource hog. Other heavy-hitting games on the list include Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption II, Asobo’s Microsoft Flight Simulator, and Chernobylite. There are even some to-be-released games getting support, including Black Myth: Wukong and STALKER 2.
But what is the performance difference? Nvidia went ahead and released a demo trailer of DLSS 3 running in Cyberpunk 2077, and the gains are certainly noteworthy. Granted, this is a controlled demo, and PC specs are unknown. However, the video takes us through a driving tour of Night City, where we can see a framerate increase of around 75 fps in some places.
Let me run it all
The list is respectable, though not every game likely needed such a boost. Fortnite can practically run on my microwave, but it’s also one of the games getting DLSS 3 support. Still, if you need all the frames necessary to win that chicken dinner, then the performance increase should intrigue you. Apps included in the list include development engines, such as Unity, Unreal, and Frostbite.
“NVIDIA DLSS 3 with Optical Multi Frame Generation multiplies performance on GeForce RTX 40 Series graphics cards by using AI to generate more frames,” reads the website description. “DLSS 3 analyzes sequential frames and motion data from the new Optical Flow Accelerator in GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs to create additional high quality frames. NVIDIA DLSS 3 also includes NVIDIA Reflex, so each of these titles will be even more responsive for all GeForce RTX gamers.”
Naturally, the caveat suggested by Nvidia is that DLSS 3 won’t be available for anything other than 40 Series cards. For more information on those, stay tuned for our full report. Look below for the entire list of games and apps with DLSS 3 support.
