Nvidia Announces New Big Format Gaming Displays

What good is a high-powered PC or shiny new console if your monitor isn’t up to snuff? Nvidia wants gamers to enjoy the best experience by making sure to offer not just cutting-edge rendering tech, but also display technology as well. At CES 2018, the company unveiled new Big Format Displays (BFGD). This new line of displays from ACER, Asus and HP will be releasing later this year, and will definitely be living up to their name; all of these displays will be 65 inches.

Not only are the BFGDs large in size, but also specs. They will run at 4K with a 120Hz refresh rate, and will also sport HDR, G-SYNC, and even a built-in Nvidia Shield with all its cool features. That’s right, somehow these guys have managed to take a SHIELD box and shrink it down into a chip-size slim enough to integrate into a display. That’s just…wow. With that SHIELD in there, the BFGD will be able to stream video content from services like Netflix and YouTube at 4K, and will also support NVIDIA GameStream, along with streaming Android games, apps, and more. That’s quite the feature set.

The main benefit of the BFGD line is that it offers a 4K viewing experience that’s larger than a traditional monitor, but smoother than a TV. The G-SYNC technology and 120Hz provide an incredibly smooth viewing experience that current 4K TVs can’t offer. Nvidia also highlighted the fact that PCs won’t just benefit from the BFGD, but also consoles too. The high refresh rates will make all the 60FPS games on Nintendo Switch look great, and the 4K and HDR-ready titles of the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro will also take full advantage of the BFGDs specs. All-in-all, this new line of displays looks to be the ultimate entertainment center.

All of this sounds pretty cool, but what I really want to know is what’s going to be the price of these things?! Nvidia conveniently hasn’t mentioned that or the release date just yet, but these new displays will be available later in 2018.
