No Man’s Sky wiped discoveries issue could be a server problem

This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

Following yesterday’s discovery (no pun intended) that No Man’s Sky’s discoveries could be being wiped, it appears it may be a server issue.

After further investigation, it does appear to be a glitch that is making it look like data is not being saved. In a follow-up post and after some tinkering, player Dark_Nexus managed to bring his discoveries back. He added:

“I re-downloaded and reloaded the game for about two hours. I don’t know what happened but all the discoveries re-appeared on my starting planet. It seems a little bugged where as you get further and further away from your starting point you can’t see your old discoveries even when you find your way back. It’s like the server lags behind big time and takes a while to find the old information.”

However, some users say they are still not being able to find their discoveries which does indicate there could be some kind of syncing issue with the servers. The good news is discoveries appear to be there sometimes which means the data is being stored.

Hello Games will probably take a look at this problem and resolve it at some point.
