You know it’s a sad state of affairs when developers now have to confirm whether there will be loot crates of microtransactions for games nowhere near ready to ship. Obsidian wants to get things straight right away.
Yesterday Take-Two Interactive announced their new publishing label called Private Division and revealed that Obsidian’s new RPG is on their developer list. Obsidian has been quick out the blocks to state that the new RPG will not include loot crates of microtransactions.
We’re extremely excited about our upcoming RPG, and we know you are too. We wish we could tell you all about it right now… but we’re going to hold off until the time is right. What we did want to talk about was a question a lot of you have been raising: “Will this upcoming game feature any lootboxes or other microtransactions?”
The answer is simply: “no.” No microtransactions, of any kind, in our game.
I doubt many gamers even thought about microtransactions appearing in an Obsidian RPG buy to make sure gamers get the message, they even posted a quick video with Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky.

So that’s it then. RPG fans can confidently add the upcoming RPG to their wishlists without the fear of being tempted to spend even more money.
